The following Purcell Road extension update was provided on October 3rd by Coles District Supervisor Marty Nohe. If this subject is new to you, please refer to the prior article below. Here’s the update:

I am sending you this e-mail because you have previously communicated with my office your concerns about the potential widening of Purcell Road and I wanted to provide you with updates as they have become available.

As you might remember, on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, the Board of County Supervisors voted to initiate the Comprehensive Plan Amendment (CPA) to study and identify possible alternatives to widening Purcell Road and constructing Purcell Road East. After which, staff began the process of studying the alternatives for the future of Purcell Road.

Staff is nearing completion of the process for studying the alternatives and the Purcell Road CPA is currently on the schedule for both the Planning Commission and the Board of County Supervisors. The dates for these meetings could change, but at this time we don’t anticipate any changes to the schedule. The Planning Commission public hearing is scheduled to be Wednesday, December 5, 2012. At this meeting, the CPA will be introduced and the Planning Commission will then make a recommendation to the Board of County Supervisors. The staff report will be issued a few days before the Planning Commission meeting and we will provide you with more information on the report as it becomes available. The final public hearing and vote taken by the Board of County Supervisors is scheduled to be Tuesday, January 8, 2013. Both are scheduled as public hearings and time will be allotted for citizen feedback at those meetings.  We will continue to provide you with updates and reminders as the time approaches.
